Confusion, anxiety, and walking
on eggshells takes a toll on our bodies.
As does terror, panic, and fear of our partner
who seems to be a monster now.

Repairing health after narcissistic abuse is something some of us are aware of as a priority. To some of us there’s a clear connection between failing health and their presence in our lives. Others of us might not realize our bad health is a result of the sustained stress of time spent with a pathological user, that narcissist aka sociopath. These creatures and their effects reach our entire being: mind, spirit, and body as we live in a constant elevated “fight-flight-freeze” cycle.

Rarely do we feel calm, or at ease, once we meet Mr. Wrong or Ms. Hyde. This creates hormone imbalances in cortisol rushes and adrenaline flushes that surge throughout the day.

After they go, surprisingly, the stress is higher, the fear often more intense and as a coping mechanism, we pick up or escalate harmful habits that we really would rather not have.

Repair Health After Narcissistic Abuse

Under the traumatic ruination and influence of a pathological predator, we can develop illnesses.

The stress as well as the habits taken on to manage it makes the hormone imbalances that create imperfect health.

You can repair health, just as you can fully resolve the losses, and grieve, and mourn, and understand how amazing you are as you make your way back home to your self.

Find your way back to peace.

From Health to Illness

The stress itself can lead to elevated blood pressure and adrenaline, and cortisol levels that make us ill and lead to autoimmune imbalances such as Hashimoto’s or fibromyalgia. Cortisol creates cellular inflammation which in turn can develop into arthritis.

You might find yourself breaking out with hives, having UTIs, yeast infections, getting migraines, experiencing panic attacks, and developing colitis.

The changes in our physiology and biology and hormonal balance from being around these goons can lead to chronic and serious diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, and more.

Common Coping Habits

The habits we adopt to cope with the trauma are most often related to smoking, drinking, and eating habits. Their effect, in turn, alters the quality of our lives. These changes to how we live further drain our well-being in both short and long-term health from candida to fibroids to sadly, worse.

To support you along the recovery odyssey, here are some thoughts, and information I found in my own journey back to myself and repairing health after a con man.

Smoking Cigarettes

I have no personal experience with wanting to quit smoking cigarettes. I’m deathly allergic to cigarette smoke, so that’s enough for me. I have to run from smokers – literally.

We all know how bad cigarettes are – heck that was known when they were first put on the market. The dangers of cigarettes are undeniable, and yet they were overlooked deliberately by cigarette companies, and even doctors advertised cigarette smoking as a way to lose weight, increase digestion, and relax.

It’s thought that over the years, cigarettes have become more and more addictive with the addition of more chemicals and quick-burning agents.

Even with societal restrictions on smoking, people find a way and a place to smoke. Homeopathy may support and bring about the end of our days of standing around in parking lots in the “smokers’ area”. One homeopathic combination recommened to quit smoking is, EZ Quit.

A Glass of Red

The truth is for some, drinking a bit in the aftermath of the trauma can be therapeutic. For me, naturally next to a complete non-drinker, having red wine was fantastic and absolutely medicinal. It started while I was living with the maniac, wine here and there to have at home was at first, a nice part of our time together.

In the aftermath, though it didn’t repair my health, two glasses of red wine a night kept me from losing my mind. It lulled me to sleep. Sometimes along with arnica or ignatia each is a homeopathic remedy for shock, trauma, loss, grief, and anxiety. That along with earbuds for playing Netflix to stop my chattering mind.

Later, as my fear and legal issues were resolved, I naturally drank less. At one point though, I started to wonder if I could do without it. I deliberately stopped having wine in the evenings because I didn’t want to make that a problem… What’s evolved is that I drink some wine sometimes – not often at all, and all these years later, I still fall asleep to Netflix or HBOmax. Or better yet, to an audiobook.

Narcissistic Abuse Unwound

No One Wants an Addiction to Alcohol

It’s for certain, none of us want to tempt the development of alcoholism and if on the other hand, we had drinking issues before the hijacking, in the aftermath alcohol could take us to another level of ruin and challenge as we repair health after either a sociopath or a narcissist. So, let’s do all we can to stop a drinking habit or dependence on alcohol in its tracks.

Not surprisingly, as you find answers to the roller coaster life you’ve been drawn into, have grieved, and resolved legal issues, and loss, you can naturally decrease whatever bad habits we’ve picked up… If we need a boost in that direction, that’s okay too.

Candida, Yeast Infections, and UTIs

Candida is a fungus. We need it, and then we can have too much of a good thing and candida makes us sick. Everything from anxiety, to weepiness, exhaustion, apathy, depression to fibromyalgia, and heart disease can come from too much candida.

These same sufferings are also post-trauma symptoms, so combined with candida we’re getting a double whammy. The added stress and yeast lead to more frequent and deeper urinary tract infections.

The foods and habits that increase candida are sugars in all forms, alcohol, smoking, caffeine, processed foods, pastries, cakes, cookies, pies, donuts, and potatoes. When severely reducing candida-creating foods, we even eliminate corn, carrots, beets, peas, rice, grains, wheat, and other high-glycemic-index foods that do not repair health but demolish it.

Tame That Candida Fungi

Start by drinking lots and lots of water. For added impact to your good heath and a balanced bodily Ph, add freshly squeezed lemon juice to water daily. You can drink apple cider vinegar in water daily.

Changing diet helps reduce candida, but an extreme candida diet can make us feel so sick we’d rather eat another box of donuts and let them populate. There is a product that helps in this candida battle; we can use Candex to kill off the candida without feeling sick.

In addition, be mindful of urinating immediately when we feel the impulse. Cranberry juice with zero added sweeteners including the chemical kinds, absolutely helps! Trader Joe’s sells a bottle of nothing but cranberry that can be added to fizzy water for a delish cleansing drink.

Shrink Fibroids

Fibroids are incredibly common. There are a variety of types of fibroids, but fibroids are not cancerous. Fibroids aren’t entirely understood; they’re thought to be an over-replication of a particular muscle cell.

They can be small and unnoticed and then they can grow to the size of grapefruits. Some are cancerous; some are not. They can cause zero pain to lots of pain. They can lead to vaginal bleeding that is, in fact, a mix of blood and fluid that is generated by the fibroid itself. You can feel sick, exhausted, and depleted.

Some fibroids are so large as to cause pain and symptoms that demand more than reducing their size. There are options for treating fibroids and stopping their growth that can take place right within your doctor’s office. Some fibroids make take a full surgical procedure to remove them. Always consult with your doctor. Studies on fibroids, how they form and effective treatments continue.

Use Products that Don’t Create Estrogen

Both too much progesterone and estrogen are linked to the development of fibroids. It’s thought that one cause of fibroids is an estrogen build-up that can in part come from the use of perfumes, shampoos, and cosmetics. – Statistics say that African American women experience more fibroids than other women due to a tendency to the use a high number of chemical hair products and from a young age.

Is something as ordinary and seemingly innocent as our conditioner or face cream really causing fibroids?

While some may feel this is impossible, it’s a certainty that the hormone imbalances of all the stress don’t help; and if our ride in hell coincides with perimenopause, you could be in for a real ride.

Balance Hormones for Optimal Health

To balance hormones I’ve heard of EstroDIM; it’s a super dose of essentially, cruciferous veggies! EstroDIM is sometimes recommended by OB/GYNs for hormone balancing. It helps with too high estrogen or estrogen dominance.

Made from cruciferous vegetables EstroDIM rids xenoestrogens, these are persistent and likely unknown chemicals natural, and manmade that interfere with hormonal balance. It’s also meant to allow the reduction or elimination of harmful antibiotics. This also addresses endocrine health, which is related to thyroid health.  

Homeopathy For Perfect Health

For what turned out to be fibroids that came on painfully and out of the blue, I went to an MD for tests to rule out cancer or other illnesses or disorders. Her last medical option to me regarding these fibroids that bleed and made me feel ill and in pain was, they’re too small, you shouldn’t feel them. And that they were physiological.

I then promptly went to a private classical homeopathic doctor — with very successful treatment and an end to the fibroids.

Is Homeopathy Real or Bunkus?

Some people laugh at the idea of homeopathy insisting it’s a placebo effect. Well, then I have to say, it’s incredibly effective for me. I’ve used it for all ailments for years. I’ve used homeopathy successfully for hair shedding, sleeplessness, fear, loss, grief, anxiety, thyroid imbalance, and high blood pressure all from the stress that came about from the maniac and after he was gone.

Queen Elizabeth has a Royal Homeopathic Doctor. Homeopathy is a medical marvel established as a school of medicine in the 1800s. Homeopathy is common in the Netherlands, the UK, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, and Western Europe, Brazil, Argentina, and other countries aside from the USA.

I’ve had great success with homeopathy for years. I’ve gone to classical homeopathic doctors and do research and reading before any self-administration of remedies. Self-prescribing is common and accepted in homeopathy. On top of that, remedies are mere pennies compared to standard allopathic medical practice fees through an M.D.

Eat Your Way From Illness to Health

Eating well easily slips to the wayside as we try to stop confusion and manage chaos the sociopath brings along with them into our lives.

Take responsibility for our well-being. Be sure to take any self-blame and place it back at the perpetrator’s feet.

Health challenges are exacerbated by unhealthy eating and helped tremendously or even reversed with the most healthful eating. I think by this stage of social awareness we know plant-prevalent diets are best for health even if this isn’t how we eat.

Eating habits that exclude processed sugars, commercially processed or prepared foods or junk food are best, we all know this as we much down another donut or Taco Bell crispy taco. – Rather like the case of cigarettes, we know it’s bad stuff.

Adding copious amounts of fresh and seasonal produce, especially greens of all kinds, is all around agreed to be the number one way to improve health.

Still, there are people who think organically grown or non-GMO or pasture-raised and grass-fed are malarkey. I don’t. decide for yourself what you will and won’t ingest. It’s a privilege to be able to do so.

We are in fact, what we eat; or, more accurately our health, well-being, quality of life, vitality, and longevity are directly linked to what we eat.

The Plant Paradox: Lectin-Free Lifestyle

The most effective and incredibly enjoyable method of eating I’ve found to lower blood pressure and bring my thyroid back to balance is the Plant Paradox (PP).

The paradox in relation to the plants is found in that we can eat some produce, but not other seemingly innocuous fruits and veggies.

Under the concepts of this way of eating, you want to avoid a certain level of what’s called lectins for optimal health and for the lessening of disease. So, you can eat cabbage, but not green beans. You can munch away on apples and pears, but not bananas or mangos.

The Plant Paradox is the work of a doctor in Los Angeles, Dr. Steven Gundry. Look into it for yourself and consider it. Dr. Gundry also wrote and recently published, The Longevity Paradox: How to Die Young at a Ripe Old Age.

Lectin-Free Healing Claims

One day out grocery shopping (far before the pandemic) for wild-caught cod and shrimp as a part of PP, I ran into a fellow shopper also with pasture-raised eggs, cherries, cassava flour tortillas in her cart, right there next to me picking up wild-caught salmon a Sprouts. I asked her, are you on Plant Paradox?

She smiled and said, yes! I’ve been on it for three months and have gone down 35 pounds; my husband has lost 43 pounds. I went off my high blood pressure medicine, and before it, I couldn’t bend to pick up my two-year-old and walk down the street with her; now I can!

To Each Our Own Dinner Plate

I have several friends who had amazing results with PP. One, on chemo, said her doctor took her off chemo after two months of eating strictly the PP-way based on her blood test results. Another friend tried the final phase of PP, eating only for two weeks following what would be her eating habits for life if she remained plant paradox compliant. Her doctor took her off her thyroid meds at the end of those two weeks.

On a hike I overheard a man talking on his phone (yes, on a “hike”, this is LA, another place together for better or for worse). He was talking about eating and his diet in a way that I thought he was talking about the Plant Paradox.

After his call ended and we were still in roughly in step together we started chatting about food, diets, and how to eat -again, it’s LA). This man thought PP was malarkey and swore up and down about the great results of eating the way another woman food guru suggested. I honestly can’t remember her name.
