Can You Smell a Narcissist?

Can we smell a narcissist?
Does the sociopath have a certain aroma?
As their abnormal brain affects their physiology…
how does it show up?

These are entirely different “humans”. The way they think, speak, and behave is not a “choice”. It’s instinctive. Their fundamental “self” is wired to use and take and get whatever they need and want. This “self” is pathological… meaning they’re driven by their brains which are not normal, yet are quite specific.

Can you smell a narcissist or sociopath?

I wonder, since the sociopath’s abnormal brain affects their physiology how does this show up in all parts of their being? We know a lot of the things that they each have in common as creatures of this sort. (Or the “narcissist’s” if you’re on that terminology even with all it’s pitfalls and misconceptions.)

They’re fundamentally and pathologically identical monster to monster.

Narcissists are Without a Conscience

We know and have experienced that they have no remorse and no conscience. This is because they have no positive or genuine bonding. We can bond with a cow more than share a mutual trusting bond with them.

They feel no positive concern or care nor do they feel love, like, appreciation, affection, gratitude, or any of our finer feelings or any positive emotions at all really that aren’t tied to their self-adulation and glee at taking things and using someone or getting away with something.

Instincts of a Parasite and Predator

They don’t feel even the instinctive obligation associated with the care and feeding of their offspring in the most basic of basics. – A house cat makes a better parent. And You might have noticed the black eyes. Or the drive within males to engage in anal sex and refuse condoms.

There’s their shared natural impulse to call us a negative-something-or-other that strikes soon into the entanglement, once the polish is off and they aren’t getting things they want or we expect “too much”. And we all see the way they can say one thing and then the complete opposite within the same 15-seconds in hopes of getting a response from us that yields to their benefit.

And then there’s the shocking way that they can be calm and distant amidst any situation and not be bothered unless it directly affects their security and safety. And their sort of nocturnal bent, and ability to not sleep and be out prowling through the night.

Breaking Up with Evil: Escaping Coercive Control on Amazon

Five women’s true stories of being ensnared hauled through the confusion, lies, fear, and pain, and breaking away.

Told in their own words, they leave nothing unsaid. Find validation and see new glimpses of the truth as they share their stories… Stories that could be any of ours.

Smell a Narcissist..?

But… Have you noticed the absence of body scent…? This seems to be a “thing”. It’s come up with people in sessions and I experienced it as well. They smell of nothing. Apparently, though little talked about… this is not a new notion and has grounds in reality…to the point that this quality of the pathological is present in fiction. Have you heard of the novel, Perfume…? It’s about an abandoned baby who has no scent… and how they grow up and what they do when they get older. I read it in 1987.

Sweeter Than Honey…

When I met the nutter I married, he had the sweetest scent… that I thought was his natural skin. It turns out it was the delicious perfume of a body oil he brought with him from Europe. I’d never seen it in our bathroom. Ever. I’d never seen him use it. I had zero awareness this oil existed in my home.

Until the day the bottle was drained empty and I suppose he hadn’t been able to find it anywhere – or maybe hadn’t looked – or hadn’t been able to get the woman in Europe who bought it for him to send anymore. – Then he brought the bottle to me as if it were a national emergency. He described it almost drooling, saying, it’s the smell of the lotion they put on babies in France…

Does This Lead Us to Do Their Bidding?

He paced and pawed the floor in front of me. His cloven feet scraped the carpet as wrung his hands… This was the story: HIs “friend”, “Nicole” (who I was told was very beautiful and that I kind of looked like) had worked in (as he told it with passion and importance) an exclusive-elite-upscale, amazing-the-best beauty shop in Berlin and that’s how he got the oil through “Nicole”. But, Nicole doesn’t work there anymore…so. It’s now my job to find this oil. A-sap.

I was stunned and equally at the same time, activated to take action on his behalf. – That’s how it hits us, isn’t it…? – I’d never heard of “Nicole” before. Or this oil. But, I Googled and researched and made phone calls and drove to get the oil that I found within hours that very day at a tiny shop in Beverly Hills. – And, naturally, I paid for it and carried it home to him. (And it turns out I’d discover months later that a “Nicole” didn’t exist, but this name and story were another representation of a woman I’d eventually come to know very well who had one of his babies.)

Truth Stranger Than Surreal

I realized this perfumed body oil was what I’d thought had been his natural scent. This is bizarre and so strange, it’s not something you’re going to hear or talk about often, but as it turns out – this bizarre life-jacking monster I’d married had no natural scent, odor, or aroma.

This company makes amazing products, even for babies…delicious face cremes which I had been using already! They make oils, lotions, and face and body wash that are out of this world, Weleda, a German company. And – Germany was, for a number of years, his home base, his major geographic area, Berlin. So.

Narcissists Are Nothing Like Normal

The other opposing, but equally odd circumstance can be that they reek to high heaven, so to speak. Literally the stench of their rotten insides, no doubt. – Does this seem impossible? Kinda. But then again, is this any more impossible than the fact that while we stand “upright” on one side of the globe at the same time there are other people on the other side standing “upside-down” yet, on their feet. Whoa.

Could this bizarro-smell thing related to the pathological be tied to the fact that they don’t experience emotions in a way that produces pheromones – or the same pheromones that we do – or possibly other bodily normal attributes such as “scent”.

Is this a piece of what makes us experience them as “cold” and when we see more of their behavior and lies does this absence of human-scent attribute in part to the fear they strike within us…?

– Have you had this experience…?
